The patients will sit in front of the computer monitor and comfortably rest his or her head in a headrest. While his or her gaze stays unmoved on a fixation point light stimuli will appear in designated areas of the computer monitor. He or she will recognise these and confirm this by pressing a key. The light stimuli positions are chosen by us so that they appear predominantly in the area with a high improvement potential - zones of residual vision. Patients need neither surgery nor medication. Of over 1200 patients that have performed VRT so far, 65% have achieved a measureable improvement.

Using the NovaVision programme package a direct diagnosis of the visual field defects can be conducted without extensive equipment. Even the smallest scotoma can be detected reliably due to the high resolution. Apart from the conventional determination of the visual field for light-dark-perception, a colour and shape perimetric examination can also be conducted, which can be used to supplement the diagnosis or clarify specific questions. All the tests can be easily adjusted to the individual needs of patients thanks to the flexibility of the programmes. The diagnostic results can then be directly applied to the preparation of each therapy programme.
